Advance HE (formerly Equality Challenge Unit - ECU)

Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) (now part of Advance HE) is a registered charity funded by the Scottish Funding Council, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and Universities UK. It has over ten years’ experience supporting equality and diversity for staff and students in higher education institutions across all four nations of the UK and in colleges in Scotland. The organisation provides a central source of expertise, advice, research and leadership on equality and diversity that drives forward change and transforms organisational culture in teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange. ECU increasingly works in partnership with university and research sectors across the world. Its main activities include quantitative and qualitative research (including ASSET --Athena Survey of Science, Engineering and Technology--), policy information, advice and guidance, equality charters (Athena SWAN Charter and Race Equality Charter), sharing good practice, training, organisation of events and seminars, consultancy, advice line and bespoke services.
