10th European Feminist Research Conference

The 10th European Feminist Research Conference will take place from September 12 - 15 2018 in Göttingen.

This international conference takes place every three years since 1991 and it is one of the major opportunities for feminist, queer and gender studies scholars, activists, artists and policy makers from all over Europe and across disciplinary boundaries to gather and exchange experiences.2018 it will take place in Germany for the first time.

The title "Difference, Diversity, Diffraction: Confronting Hegemonies and Dispossessions" addresses a fundamental issue of gender and diversity studies: social inequality, difference and equal opportunities. The subtitle "confronting" includes the appeal to reflect social exclusion and discrimination and to find an affirmative way of dealing with diversity. These questions will be discussed in their European and global dimensions. Right-wing populist movements, national isolationism, wars, climate change and movements of migration are important topics.

The Göttingen Diversity Research Institute and the Göttingen Centre for Gender Studies have acquired funds from the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) in order to prepare, carry out and document the 10. European Feminist Research Conference (EFRC)

The conference organizing team is led by Dr. Astrid Biele Mefebue, Acting Professor at the Göttingen Diversity Research Institute, and Prof. Dr. Sabine Grenz, professor for Gender Studies at the University of Vienna and Guest professor at the Diversity Research Institute. They are supported by Dr. Stefanie Boulila, research assistant at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and member of the board of Atgender. Ksenia Meshkova is employed as project manager.
